Phuket Sandbox - Travelers Guide
Phuket is open to vaccinated Thai and foreign travelers under the “Phuket Sandbox Program” since 1 July 2021. Travelers do not need quarantine, but they must stay in Phuket for at least 7 nights and will then be allowed to visit other destinations in Thailand.

Here are 5 easy steps for How to Enter Phuket under the Phuket Sandbox Program:
1. Getting ready
1.1 Adults need to be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the WHO or the Ministry of Health of Thailand no less than 14 days before departure.
1.2 Children under the age of 18 who are traveling with parents are eligible without proof of vaccination.
1.3 Low/medium risk countries: guests must come from countries considered low/medium risk by the Thai Government and must have stayed in these countries at least 21 consecutive days prior to departure for Phuket.
1.4 Health Insurance with a minimum of 100,000 USD covering COVID-19 treatment in Thailand throughout the entire duration of stay.
1.5 Medical certificate no more than 72 hours before travel date with a laboratory result by an RT-PCR method indicating that COVID-19 is not detected.
1.6 A Certificate of Entry (COE) issued by the Thai Embassy or Consulate to allow entry to Thailand (follow this link to apply for the COE).
2. Booking your stay
2.1 SHA+ Hotel Reservation Confirmation in SHABA format throughout the 7 days stay. All accommodation must be prepaid. All guests traveling are required to provide their details to the hotel when requesting a hotel Reservation Confirmation in SHABA format.
2.2 COVID-19 testing in Phuket: Guests are required to take 2 COVID-19 tests. The first test upon arrival at the airport, the second test on Day 6. Guests will be sent a link to the COVID-19 test booking page by the hotel reservations department. Advance reservation and payment is required in order to apply for your COE. Both can be done online via the link. It is the guest’s responsibility during their stay in Phuket to adhere to their selected COVID-19 test appointments.
3. Arriving (procedure takes approx. 30 minutes at Phuket International Airport)
3.1 Temperature check must not exceed 37.3 Degree Celsius
3.2 Download and install an alert application “Mor Chana” or ‘ThailandPlus” as well as set the application ‘on’ at all times during the whole stay in Thailand.
3.3 Documentation process: have all the documents under No. 1 & 2 available.
3.4 COVID-19 testing on arrival: once completed, proceed to Exit No. 2
3.5 Take an SHA+ certified transportation to the hotel: can be booked directly with the first hotel you stay in.
4. Staying at the resort
4.1 On the first arrival day: Guests are required to stay in their room while waiting for the PCR test results taken at the airport upon arrival. No visitors are allowed to visit until the results are available as ‘Not detected’. (Estimate wait of 8-10 hours)
4.2 While waiting for the arrival test result: Guests are welcome to order food and beverages through the In-Room Dining menu. Our hosts will deliver by handing over the trays to your door and will not be authorized to enter your room.
4.3 After the COVID-19 results are available as ‘Not detected’, guests can freely travel around the resort and Phuket.
4.4 Daily temperature measurement at the hotel: Guests are required to measure their temperature and record it by the hotel’s SHA Plus Manager or at the reception every day.
4.5 Daily MorChana QR code scanning: Guests are required to scan the MorChana QR code with our front desk staff on a daily basis.
4.6 2nd COVID-19 Test: As outlined under point 2.2 the second test will be taken on Day 6 at designated centers in Phuket. Guests will have made the appointment and choice of test centre by themselves in advance of arrival in Phuket.
4.7 Strictly follow hygiene requirements by keeping your facemask on at all times and by respecting social distancing in public areas.
5. Traveling on or departing from Phuket
5.1 After 7 nights in Phuket, guests are allowed to travel to other parts of Thailand. Guests will be issued with a release form following the negative test result of the 2nd and final COVID-19 test.
5.2 Departure earlier than 7 nights must be an international departure from Phuket only.
5.3 Negative PCR result issued less than 72 hours prior to departure is required upon check-in at the airline counter. Please note that the date and time of the actual taking of the swab test counts. Not the issuing of the test result.
